The CVU JVA lacrosse team improved their record to 8-1 with three wins the week of May 12 with one victory over Essex (9-4), one over St. Johnsbury Academy (7-2), and finally a defeat of Middlebury (4-3) on Saturday afternoon. The score was knotted at three for much of the fourth quarter—that is until Champlain Valley’s Oliver Masson scored the game winning goal with just over two minutes left on the clock.
During the three games, midfielder Jeremy Fuller led the scoring with five points (three goals, two assists) followed by attackman Zach Ahern with four points (four goals) and attackman Owen McCuin with four points (one goal, three assists). The physical defensive unit was anchored by Jack Zahn, Jacobus Poelmann, and Trevor Kingston while Xander Miller and Matt Murakami were steady in goal.
After the Middlebury game, Head Coach Dave Richardson said he was excited that his team “took advantage of the opportunity to play on the Middlebury College field and played a great game at a great venue.”
The next home game is a rematch against Middlebury on Friday, May 23. Varsity starts at 4pm followed by JVA at 5:40pm.
