Shelburne’s Rayne Supple was named Vermont’s baseball Player Of the Year by Gatorade, a first for the Champlain Valley Union (CVU) baseball program. A CVU junior, the 6-foot-2 right-handed pitcher and shortstop is one of a few to have won the award as an underclassman. At the time of his selection Supple had a 4-1 record, an ERA of 1.17, and in 24 innings pitched he struck out 36 and allowed only 10 hits. Supple also maintains a .343 batting average and has driven in 17 runs through 12 games.
As a sophomore Supple was a Second Team All-Metro selection, and he is a two-time Perfect Game Honorable Mention Underclass All-American.
As for academics, Supple maintains a 3.25 GPA and has verbally committed to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salam, N.C. as a two way player, pitcher, and corner infielder/outfielder.
