Shelburne Parks and Recreation will host the 17th annual Back to the Beach Night next Tuesday, June 17 from 6 to 8pm. The entire community is invited to gather at Shelburne Beach for an evening of food and fun to kick off beach season. Hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, chips, and lemonade will be provided by the town’s Parks and Rec Department while the staff of the Dutch Mill Family Restaurant takes charge of the grill. Residents are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share, and to cut down on paper waste are encouraged to please bring plates and silverware from home. A bounce house will provide entertainment for the kids and lifeguards will be on duty for those hoping to swim.
Two fundraisers to benefit the Davis Park Natural Playground will be introduced during Back to the Beach Night. Raffle tickets will be on sale during the event for $5 each, or 3 for $10, to win a lifetime season beach pass, a $50 gift certificate to Leunigs, or a barbecue for your family at the beach hosted by the Shelburne Recreation Committee, respectively. Winners will be drawn at the event, but residents do not need to be present to win as tickets may also be purchased in advance at the Recreation office. In addition to the raffle, there will be an opportunity for baseball enthusiasts to clock how fast they can throw a baseball. For a $1 donation children and adults will have the opportunity for a Shelburne Police Officer to record three pitches on a radar gun. Grab the family, make a dish to share, pull out a swimsuit, towel, baseball glove, a few bucks, and get your game on at Back to the Beach Night next Tuesday. It’s sure to start summer off on the right foot.
