A packed audience was treated to selections of Handel performed by a student quartet during the commencement ceremony at the Lake Champlain Waldorf High School in Charlotte on Saturday, June 7.
Melendy Comey, the faculty sponsor of the senior class, described each student to the gathered parents, alumni, friends and teachers before presenting the diplomas. She spoke not about the students’ accomplishments, but rather about a unique quality that each individual brought to the class and to the whole Lake Champlain Waldorf School community.
Two members of the Class of 2014 are from Shelburne. Madi Cook-Comey will be taking a gap year, and Marissa Guidry plans to work and travel next year and then attend Wheaton College in Massachusetts. “I value the endless support that is ever present within our cozy community,” said Guidry.
The Class of 2014 is the tenth class to graduate from the Lake Champlain Waldorf High School, and is the last class to have Commencement in Charlotte since the high school will be opening a new campus on Bostwick Road in Shelburne this fall.
