Throughout the entire season, a total of 10 games in the Northern Vermont Girl’s Youth Lacrosse League (NVGYLL), the Shelburne’s girls 7th and 8th grade team remained undefeated. They were even able to remain strong even in the hot temperatures against Williston and Rutland during the final jamboree Sunday, June 8 in Shelburne.
“It’s sad to see the eighth graders moving on” said head coach Jen Machanic. “I’ve coached these players for a couple of years and it’s terrific to see their growth and commitment to the sport of lacrosse. Even though it’s hard to say good-bye to them as they move on to CVU and Rice, it will be exciting to watch them play at the next level.”
“Seventh graders made a major contribution to the season’s success, and we couldn’t have done without them,” coach Machanic added. “I look forward to their leadership and assistance with the seventh graders next season. Special thanks to assistant coach, Jess Taplin, and team manager, Lynda Maitland, for making this season such a success. And another thank you to Shelburne Farms for letting us use their fields during preseason while we waited for our fields to dry out. The ability to have preseason practices is key to any team’s success. We appreciate their generosity.”
