Screening of Sudan Film Factory planned for Sunday

Aug-1-A-Sudan-Screening-SCThe Vermont International Film Foundation will present short films from Sudan on Sunday, Aug. 10 at 5pm as part of its Global Roots film series.
The Sudan Film Factory is a project of the Goethe-Institut Sudan aimed at training young Sudanese talents in the area of filmmaking, script writing, directing, cinematography, and editing. Through the films created, Sudanese daily lives and worlds, stories and thoughts, dreams, hopes and frustrations as well as passion for cinema are expressed.
Guest speaker Dr. Bior K. Bior first came to Vermont in 2001 as a refugee and went on to become a cell biologist, earning his graduate degree and Ph.D. from UVM where he is currently a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Bior recently spent time in South Sudan as the Medical Director of a hospital in his home state. He will be on hand to discuss his experiences.
The screening will take place at North End Film Studios, 294 N. Winooski Avenue in Burlington. It is free and open to the public however, donations of $5 are appreciated.
