Dragonheart teams row to Italy for World Championships Shelburne residents paddle in international competition

The Dragonheart Vermont dragon boat teams who qualified nationally are off to the International Dragon Boat Federation’s World Club Crew Championships in Ravenna, Italy this weekend. It is anticipated that nearly 100 people, 85 qualified paddlers and 15-20 friends and family, will travel with Jodi and Manfred Hilker of Shelburne, who own and manage a large international excursion agency, to compete with 5,000 athletes in 350 crews from more than 20 countries.
Competitors from Shelburne include Nini Anger, Tom Anger, former resident and longtime SCS teacher Karin Clarke, Kim Dittus, Suzanne Geoffroy, Maureen O’Brien, Linda Retchin, Jeff Solomon, Andy Strauss, Sally Wadhams, and Kevin Wise.
“The Shelburne News may find it more useful to do the coverage after we return. There’s sure to be some great photos on the podium, we hope, and final results. Plus the group will also gather for a ‘Shelburne residents’ photo,” informed Sally Wadhams.
Ciao belli! Buon viaggio!
