Norwich museum becomes first Smithsonian Affiliate in Vermont

Norwich University officials will host a special event on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 1:30pm to announce that the Sullivan Museum and History Center has been designated the first and only Smithsonian Affiliate in the state of Vermont. The event will take place outside on Norwich’s Northfield campus and will include light refreshments and guided tours of the museum.
President Richard W. Schneider, Museum Director Sarah Henrich, Director of Smithsonian Affiliations Harold Closter, and Senator Patrick Leahy will be on hand for the announcement.
The Sullivan Museum and History Center, established at Norwich University in 2007, welcomes visitors to explore the history of Norwich University and its’ alumni in a 21st-century, state-of-the-art facility. The Museum and Center features permanent and changing exhibitions, learning stations, a visible-object conservation lab, spaces for exhibit preparation and object storage, a fully equipped electronic classroom and conference space, and a reference room for researchers and scholars.
