Open water swim benefits LCC this Sunday

Starting from the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, at the Old Dock in the quaint town of Essex, N.Y. across Lake Champlain to the Charlotte public beach in the town of Charlotte, approximately 15 swimmers, age 18 years and older, including Shelburne resident Tocher Mittchel, will participate in an open water swim on Sunday, Sept. 7 beginning at 10:30am, with registration in Essex between 8:30-9:30am to benefit the Lake Champlain Committee (LCC).
Cabins, porta potties, drinks and energy food will be available to participants. Swimmers are urged to bring a bag with your name on it for clothing that will be transported to the finish area.
An award ceremony will held at Charlotte public beach at 2pm for those who complete the 3.76 mile swim. Not able to attend? Tax deductible donations to LCC in support of cleaning up Lake Champlain may be made at www.lakechamplainopenwaterswim.com/.
Swim organizers reserve the right to cancel the race if it is too windy and the support craft cannot navigate. In this case the race will be held the following Sunday.
For over 50 years LCC has addressed the most pressing environmental issues facing the lake and ensures access to this wonderful public resource.
