Vermont had a strong showing at the 4-H dairy show at Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Mass., capturing championship awards in every breed competition in conformation as well as in fitting and showmanship. Thirty-four Vermont 4-H’ers competed at the regional show held Sept. 11-14.

In the fitting and showmanship contest, several junior and senior classes were held to accommodate the large number of competitors from all six New England states. The first-place winners from each class then competed for junior and senior championship awards. Shelby Biasini of Morrisville was named Senior Fitting and Showmanship Champion, the third consecutive year she has earned this award at this regional dairy show.

Shelburne’s own Benjamin Maille, age 16, placed third in the Brown Swiss Spring Yearling Heifer conformation classes, which are arranged according to age and breed of the animal.
