Black Friday generally brings to mind visions of trampled shoppers, extensive lines, and frantic faces scanning aisles for long gone hot ticket gift items. But it doesn’t need to be that way. If you shop locally on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, you’ll get the same discounts but in a much better environment. Take advantage of deals and steals all over town this weekend to check a few items off your holiday gift list.
This tiny little store is chock full of incredible gift items, and even better, almost all the products are made in the U.S. If you’re looking for warm and fuzzy, scoop up a Topo beanie for only $18, it’s incredibly soft, stretchy, and sure to please. Common Deer carries a variety of Topo products, from beautiful day packs and duffels to puffer vests and totes. The packs, with their clean lines, bold colors, and durable materials, would be a great gift for any outdoor enthusiast.
Or check out some of the beautiful jewelry, made by talented independent designers. There are still a few Rackk and Ruin pieces left, beautiful bangles and earrings by Burlington-based jeweler Molly Conant. Her unique, tasteful designs are made with reclaimed and recycled metals, and are enough to put any jewelry lover in a tizzy. Common Deer also carries designs by Vermont artist Bruce Baker, minimalist brass painted pendants by Austin designers Son of a Sailor, and many more.
It’s hard not to have fun shopping at Common Deer, what with the incredible array of high quality, funky designs. And just as an added bonus, everything in the store is 10 percent off on Friday and Saturday.
With their luxurious array of robes, bath and body products, home décor, and jewelry, Arabesque is the perfect place to shop for holiday gifts. For the jewelry lover, try Alex and Ani bracelets, made in the U.S. Each bracelet features a signature charm, from birthstones to nautical icons, and sports teams, to charity organizations. They look beautiful on their own, or piled on top of each other.
Arabesque also carries beautiful glass from Simon Pearce. Their holiday tree collection makes a beautiful gift, whether you’re giving a single tree or a set of three in different sizes. They look beautiful as table centerpieces surrounded by and candles, or nestled in evergreen garlands on a mantelpiece. Available in three sizes: extra small, 4”, $65; small, 6”, $105; medium, 10”, $120; and large, 14”, $210. The large size isn’t currently stocked, but they will be more than happy to special order it for you.
And don’t forget, shop “Pink Friday” at Arabesque and you’ll get in on incredible discounts throughout the store. All non-sale items in the store are: 20 percent of from 9-10am; 15 percent off from 10-11am; and 10 percent off from 11am-12pm. There will also be a mimosa bar and delicious cookies.
