Girls basketball team remains perfect

Laurel Jaunich scored 24 points to lead the Redhawks to a 69-34 win over Spaulding on Saturday, Jan. 3. Caitlin Grasso contributed 14 points while Sadie Otley added eight points and nine assists. On Monday night, Otley and Jaunich grabbed 14 points apiece to lead Champlain Valley over Essex 56-34 in girls high school basketball action. Annabella Pugliese contributed 10 points for the perfect Redhawks.

Boys hockey team has success over North Country

Tyler Brooks had a goal and an assist to lead Champlain Valley over North Country 2-0 in high school boys hockey action on Saturday, Jan. 3. Daniel Mathon contributed a goal, Matt Palmer and Richard Hall added assists, and Ty Parker preserved the shutout.

CVU boys basketball team wins Red-Out

Chris Reiss started a second quarter rally and Champlain Valley grabbed a 46-35 win over South Burlington Tuesday night, Dec. 30 during a SB student-supported Red-Out. Fans at the game were encouraged to wear red in memory of longtime CVU Activities Director, Kevin Riell who recently passed away. The victory was the first for the Redhawks this season. On Saturday, Jan. 3 the team continued its winning ways thanks to stalwart Chris Reiss. He scored 22 points to lead the Redhawks to a 51-31 win over BFA-St. Albans at home.

Veteran wrestlers place third

CVU senior and CVU junior, Alex Legg and Kienan Kittredge, placed third in their respective weight divisions at the Saratoga Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 3 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. CVU was the only high school from Vermont; the balance of the 20 wrestling teams were from New York (18 teams) and New Hampshire (one team).
