The Shelburne Community School is now accepting names for a random drawing for community peers for the 2015/2016 school year. The Shelburne Community Preschool Program is designed as an inclusive setting for children three to five years old from the Shelburne community. Approximately 50 percent of the children are typically developing, and 50 percent receive individualized support for a special need. It is staffed with an early childhood special educator, speech-language pathologist, and a classroom assistant. Community peers must be 3 years old but not 5 years old by Sept. 1 and display age appropriate social, language, and behavioral skills. To have your child’s name included in the lottery, please call Liz Rider at (802) 383-1178 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and leave your name, your child’s name, date of birth, address, phone number, and email. The drawing will take place Feb. 12.
The school district also contracts with several area home child care providers and early education programs for preschool spaces. Depending on the teacher qualifications at the center or home, parents will receive reduced tuition at those sites. If you are interested in using your preschool money at another child care center or program, please see the district website at www.cssu.org. Under the student service tab there is a section on the district’s early education options and how to apply for your funding. All families in the district are eligible for preschool funding.
