CVU loses CSB Cup, beats Colchester

The Rebels snapped Champlain Valley’s six-game winning streak and took home the CSB Cup with a 3-0 win on Wednesday, Feb. 11 in South Burlington. Greg Talbert finished the night with 15 saves. There was no love lost against the Lakers when CVU skated past Colchester 7-3 on Valentines’ Day. CVU’s Jack Locker scored twice while Colin Vincent, Matt Palmer, Oscar Kelly, Elliott Mitchell, and Joe Parento also scored. Talbert and Ty Parker combined for 19 saves.

Indoor track completes season

The following CVU girls and boys were the Top 3 finishers at the high school State Championship indoor track meet at Norwich University on Saturday, Feb. 14. Girls Top 3 finishers: 55-meter dash: 2. Sierra Morton. 300: 3. Malina Carroll. Boys top 3 finishers: 55-meter dash: 3. Tawn Tomasi. 300: 3. Tomasi. 4×200: 3. CVU. Shot put: 2. Richard Tegatz.

Redhawks finish third perfect regular season

The girls basketball team completed their third perfect regular season after defeating St. Johnsbury 48-22 on Friday, Feb. 13. CVU’s Laurel Jaunich scored a game-high 11 points for the 20-0 Redhawks.

CVU places third at NVAC

Seeded fourth to defend their Northern Athletic Conference (NVAC) wrestling championship on Saturday, Feb. 14 at home, CVU junior, Mark Cates, sealed the team’s third place win over third-seeded Essex with a pin. Coach Gunnar Olson was very pleased with a top three finish as the team has three empty weight classes, which takes 18 points off of the team score with each round.

CVU hoops team continues push for playoffs

CVU’s Walker Storey scored 11 points to help lead host Champlain Valley past South Burlington 47-37 in high school boys basketball on Thursday, Feb. 12. Chris Reiss contributed 13 points, while Drew Fisher grabbed 11 points and six rebounds. On Tuesday, Feb. 17 Storey was back at it again. He picked up 18 points and 7 rebounds to help lead the Redhawks over North Country 61-51. Sam Lewis contributed 13 points with nine rebounds and Rayne Supple added 10 points.
