Redhawks hockey season ends with 2-1 loss

The fifth seeded BFA-St. Albans upset higher seed Champlain Valley Union 2-1 on Chad Littlefield’s breakaway goal in double overtime to end the Redhawks season on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in South Burlington. CVU’s Jonny Daggett scored in the second period.

Boys basketball completes season

Although Chris Reiss led the Redhawks with 17 points, it wasn’t enough to advance to the quarterfinal game in the state championship. The Raiders dominated the Redhawsk 60-44 last Friday evening in Rutland.

CVU girls basketball semifinal resumes Thursday

The D-I Rice-Champlain Valley Union semifinal will resume from the point of action at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 5 at Patrick Gymnasium. With CVU leading 30-27 and only 59.5 seconds left in regulation, the game was halted when Green Knights coach Tim Rice collapsed on the court. Coach Rice was listed in fair condition on Sunday at the University of Vermont Medical Center, and according to school officials was in good spirits.

The championship game has also been rescheduled for March 10 at Patrick Gym at 7:30pm.

Redhawk wrestlers claim eighth at State Championships

The following CVU wrestlers placed in their respective weight class at Middlebury on Saturday, Feb. 28 during the high school wrestling state championships.

Alpine teams finish season in sixth place

The CVU boys and girls alpine teams finished in sixth place after the second day of the Vermont high school alpine state championships at Okemo Mountain on Tuesday, March 3. The Top 10 boys and girls results in the giant slalom are as follows:

Girls top 10: 7. Emma Putre, 1:43.94. Boys top 10: 5. Caden Frost, 1:41.03; 9. Nate Coffin, 1:41.75.
