Cell tower revenue share was a focus at the last Selectboard meeting. The Water Commission is seeking to receive 100 percent of the revenue, arguing that it would be financially advantageous for most of Shelburne’s residents by keeping water rates from rising as significantly as they otherwise would. The issue was not a decision item. It will be taken up again in December during budget meetings.

Ian McCray gained a spot as a full member of the Development Review Board (DRB). He had been serving as a DRB alternate and stepped forward to fill seat being vacated by Kevin Lavery, which will expire on April 1, 2017.

The Cemetery Commission offered its CBC report to the Board. A recent storm had caused tree damage, but there had been fortunately no issues with any of the headstones. This was the second storm in three years that had caused tree damage; the two storms resulted in a total of approximately $8,000 in tree removal costs.

Selectboard members discussed and approved the proposal, timeline and process for Town Attorney services. Toni Supple suggested an advisory board made up of attorneys, but it was decided that such a group would be unnecessary under these circumstances and would prolong the process.

Board members approved a resolution amending the Town of Shelburne Employee Health Reimbursement Arrangement.

The Board entered Executive Session. Upon emerging, they announced that they had approved a collective bargaining agreement between Shelburne and AFSCME, which is the union for the water and wastewater employees.

Also coming out of the Executive Session was a decision to authorize the Town’s Attorney to file and prosecute a zoning enforcement action against the Kaelin Trust, which owns a property at 165 Falls Road. The Trust has failed to cure a zoning violation on the property within the time provided by a Notice of Violation issued in June.
