Camp Ta-Kum-Ta’s Camp Director, Dennis DePaul, and members of the Burg family and the Schieffelin family awarded Jayme Cross, a Shelburne resident, The Barb Burg Schieffelin Memorial Scholarship. Jayme Cross has attended Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, as a camper, and will be attending Rochester Institute of Technology in the Fall.

Camp Ta-Kum-Ta’s Barb Burg Schieffelin Memorial Scholarship was created to honor and perpetuate the life-affirming spirit of Barbara Burg Schieffelin as reflected in the mission of Camp Ta-Kum-Ta.

Like Barb, Camp Ta-Kum-Ta celebrates life. Each year Camp offers to kids who have or have had cancer. Camp Ta-Kum-Ta exists because individuals, organizations and communities believe in their mission.

With Barb’s unending support, her brother Marc and his and wife Ann, have helped create the magic at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta through their volunteer efforts since 1987. With loving consideration for Marc and Ann, this scholarship was created to support the educational aspirations of Camp Ta-Kum-Ta’s campers.

The goal is to carry on this scholarship in perpetuity, as a way to continue to support campers after they graduate from the programs and to honor Barb. For more information visit
