Shelburne’s Development Review Board is considering a request by Buono Appetito Corporation for a sketch plan approval to subdivide their property into two lots. The northern portion of the lot is the site of the Buono Appetito restaurant while the southern lot is for other commercial use.
The current owners of the property requested the subdivision because there is a potential buyer for the restaurant. When Route 7 was widened, the state obtained some 1,700 square feet of frontage. Thus, the present lot does not meet the requirements for lot size, setbacks and lot coverage. The owners are asking for a variance.
The DRB will continue the hearing in their next meeting.
In other business, the DRB approved three projects:
• A Design Review application for a split-rail fence, 8’ by 8’ storage shed, and permanent front and side entry steps at 167 Shelburnewood Drive. The Historic Preservation and Design Review Commission had recommended approval of the project.
• A Design Review and Conditional Use application filed by Kristine Engstrom for the replacement and relocation of a sign for In Full Bloom at 5657 Shelburne Road.
• A Conditional Use and Site Plan application filed by Daniel Casey, the owner of Superior Auto Body, to move his auto repair business from South Burlington to 4740 Shelburne Road.
Town Planner Dean Pierce reported that interviews are currently being conducted for the vacant zoning administrator position and they hope to schedule final interviews for the top candidates by the end of the month. DRB Chair Mark Sammut intends to ask Town Manager Joe Colangelo to have three DRB members participate in the final round of interviews. Sammut also reported on his recent meeting with the Planning Commission to discuss issues the DRB would like clarified.
