Champlain Valley Union High School will be presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy as one of the best girls’ basketball teams in the country on Friday, May 6.
CVU finished 106 in the final ranking and is one of 10 schools to be honored. The Army National Guard is the presenting partner of the 11th annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions, which is in its 10th year recognizing some of the best girls’ teams throughout the country.
CVU is the first Vermont school in any sport to be honored by MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard. MaxPreps ranks more than 14,000 varsity high school girls’ basketball teams.
The award ceremony will take place at 9:45am at the CVU cafeteria. On hand to present the trophy will be Dan Shepardson, CVU Athletic Director, Ute Otley head basketball coach, SST Damien Larose of the Vermont Army National Guard and a MaxPreps representative.
CVU (24-0) completed its fourth straight unbeaten season and capped it off with its 95th consecutive victory – a 40-28 victory over Bellows Free Academy of St. Albans to capture its fourth Division I championship in a row.
