Arabesque will be offering roses for Memorial Day to families who would like to honor their loved ones who died in service or were veterans, through the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation.
Owner Tracy Stolese has ordered 250 roses that will be given away on a first-come, firstserve basis, one per customer, on Saturday, May 28 (10am to 5pm) and Sunday, May 29 (11am to 4pm) at Arabesque, located at 5597 Shelburne Road (next to Harrington’s).
“I heard about the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation, and it sounded like a wonderful way to honor our veterans,” Stolese said. “My father and a number of other family members have served, and I also spent three years working overseas as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army, so it’s something that has a personal connection to me.”
Stolese read about the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation and learned that for every 250 flowers you purchase, the foundation will place the same amount on graves in Arlington National Cemetery. Each year, the foundation’s goal is to place a flower on every one of the 280,000 gravestones at Arlington.
Stolese added that any flowers not given away at Arabesque will be donated to the Memorial Day commemoration ceremony being held at the Shelburne Veteran’s Monument at 11am on Memorial Day.
