Aileen Patricia Williams Stephens, 89, passed away on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 while residing in her daughter’s home in Portsmouth, Virginia at the time of her passing. Born on July 17, 1926 in Stamford, Connecticut daughter of the late Harry Williams and May Gaffney. Aileen was predeceased by her loving husband John Phillip Stephens and their eldest child Duane Patricia Stephens, age 14.
Her proudest achievements were their five children. She indulged in her passion for reading, playing bridge, skiing, beach life, and gardening. Aileen was always ready to offer up her hearty and infectious laugh. She looked forward to seeing the Stargazer Lilium blossom in Vermont every summer. Aileen was an avid participant of and member of various organizations to include Shelburne and Burlington Flower Clubs; The American Red Cross of Burlington, Vermont; Founder of Red Cross Swimming Lessons, Shelburne, Vermont; and Birds of Vermont.
She is survived by two daughters, Dana Stephens, Deborah Stephens-Kirk; two sons, Mark Stephens, and his wife Beni, and Paul Stephens and his wife Shirley; six grandchildren, Aron Goffin, Nicholas Kirk, Jennifer Stephens, Dana Kirk, Bowen Stephens, and Mitchell-Duane Stephens; three great grandchildren, Kaleb Germaine, Avah Kirk, and Autumn Goffin. A Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 2pm on Friday, July 15, 2016, conducted by Monsignor DeForge at St. Catherine of Sienna, Shelburne, Vermont.
