Bay Road Railroad underpass
This underpass was built long before many of us were born. The drivable width through this underpass has not changed. What has changed is…motor vehicles are much smaller. Typical parking lot/street spaces have gone from 10’x20’ to 8’x16’ as testimony. But most importantly, we continually find ways to sanction the motorist who cannot drive a motor vehicle. I hear tell there are cars that will self-park because the driver can’t! Stop the madness! Simply place 10MPH speed limit signs a reasonable distance before each entrance and end the traffic jams we so carefully have now crafted.
If (2) 6’-6” wide vehicles (average width at most) passing each other under an 18’ wide path is not feasible, the driver who is still uncomfortable with this should relinquish their license and save future lives. That’s the real issue.
Michael Sirotkin endorsement
Michael Sirotkin is at the top of my list of six senators to elect from Chittenden County. Personally I’ve known Michael for almost fifteen years, as we coordinated effectively to pass Act 39, the patient-choice-at-end-of-life bill. Michael’s years of experience in working toward improvement in Vermont’s laws have proved invaluable in his role as Senator. Recently he was a lead sponsor in the Earned Sick Leave law, which will initially provide three paid sick days to full-time employees who have been employed for at least one year. He was also a lead sponsor in a bill that combats opium abuse, tackling the problem on several fronts. Michael listens to his constituents and keeps us informed. We have recognized his thorough and deliberate approach to all issues and his ability to work well with others–great assets in the Senate.
