Shelburne resident Suzanne Gruendling completed her 44th marathon in San Francisco on July 31. This was Gruendling’s second time running the San Francisco Marathon. The course starts on the San Francisco Embarcadero waterfront, continues along the waterfront and over the Golden Gate Bridge, back through historic parks and neighborhoods, and past the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge to the finish line. Approximately 26,000 runners take on the 26.2 mile course. Gruendling already has her 45th and 46th marathons planned and will be running them back-to-back at the New Hampshire Marathon in Bristol, NH on Oct. 1 and the Maine Marathon in Portland the following day. On any particular morning, you can find Suzanne out on her early morning training runs in Shelburne.
