An opening reception for Rustic Roots’ group art show of abstract photography will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The reception is open to the public. The show features artists from Hinesburg, Charlotte, Shelburne, South Burlington, and Burlington, and showcases their interpretations of abstract or surreal pieces. The 15-work exhibit will be displayed in the restaurant’s dining room on Falls Road in Shelburne during September.

John Berkey and Meg Berlin of Charlotte, Philip Galiga of Hinesburg, Justin Gonyea and Boston Neary of Shelburne, Natalie Stultz of South Burlington, and Ann Barlow of Burlington each practice the art of photography in different ways and with widely varying perspectives. Photos from this show depict nature, portraiture, and industry.

Each artist approaches their subjects in different ways, using a broad range of equipment. Meg Berlin used a Hasselblad large format film to capture “Rust,” a painterly portrait of an industrial barrel that is striking in its composition of complementary colors and light.

Most of the work on display is also available for purchase. More information about the artists, as well as links to their websites, can be seen at www.rusticrootsvt.com/artists. For more information, call (802) 985-9511.
