Lisa Mann has been an artist all her life, finding that whatever role she filled, it was always “the creative expressions in these endeavors that have continued to draw me into a more inspired life.”
An avid traveler, Lisa has used her travel adventures as a catalyst to communicate the sense of place she has drawn from those experiences. That creative spirit is evident in the pieces she will display this fall at Shelburne Vineyard, where her exhibit “Reverie” will hang from Sept. 2 through the end of November. “Reverie,” the title of the exhibit, refers to this series of landscapes based on thoughts, impressions, and lasting memories of living and traveling in Europe.
A self-taught artist, Lisa draws her inspiration and the structure of her works from the feelings a place evokes in her, using her art to “walk the line between what we see and what we perceive.” The resulting work, created by layering of oil paints, beeswax, and solvents, allows her to scrape back and reveal the depth and structure of each piece. The final piece expresses the story and emotion of what she has seen.
