Mayfest – a Waldorf tradition

Young and old enjoy the Mayfest tentpole at the Waldorf School’s Mayfest festival.

Celebrate the magic of spring with Waldorf at Mayfest this coming Saturday from 10am to 2pm. A day filled with flowers, sunshine (fingers crossed), and joyful music, Mayfest is specially created with young children in mind. There are so many wonderful activities to enjoy, but without too much noise or bustle—it’s just right for the six-and-under crowd.

Each year the Lake Champlain Waldorf School’s preschool through 8th-grade campus transforms into a festive springtime celebration. Maypole dancing with live music, pony rides, delightful activities, and delicious food combine to make Mayfest unforgettable for families.

Children enjoy games, jump rope making, flower crown decorating, face painting, and so much more. Delicious, organic snacks and lunch will be available for purchase provided by local vendors including Farmers & Foragers and Adam’s Berry Farm. Families are welcome to bring their own picnic and blanket. Admission to Mayfest is free, but remember to bring money for pony rides and food.

The Waldorf School is located at 359 Turtle Lane, Shelburne. If Saturday’s weather is unpleasant, event details will be posted on the school’s website, www.lakechamplainwaldorfschool.org.
