News from the Pierson Library

Thursday night: The Pierson Library is partnering with the Shelburne Tree Advisory Committee during the month of May to host Tree Beard and share information on planting trees. Members of the Tree Advisory Committee will be on-hand to answer questions and provide helpful tips on Thursday, May 4, 5:30-6:30pm. They will have handouts explaining the best tree planting practices and information on how trees help the town. Check out the books and DVDs on gardening on display in the library when you are visiting Tree Beard.

Thursday night: Sci-Fi Fantasy Book Discussion. The group will gather at 7pm on Thursday, May 4 to talk about “The Regional Office is Under Attack” by Manuel Gonzalez. Please call ahead to register because pizza will be served and we want to be sure to have enough for everyone.

Thursday night: Books on Tap: Book Group for Men The group will meet at La Villa at 7:30pm to discuss “Lincoln in the Bardo” by George Saunders. Join them for brews, chews, and a lively conversation.

Story Time with Patrice Join Patrice Macomber on Monday mornings at 10:30am for read-aloud stories that even our very youngest patrons will enjoy.

Legislator Meet & Greet Wondering what’s happening in Montpelier? Have an issue you would like the Legislature to address? If so, come to the library on Tuesday, May 9 or Tuesday, May 23 at 6pm to talk with State Representatives Jessica Brumsted and Kate Webb. They will be here to listen to your concerns and fill you in on the latest happenings in our State Capitol.

One-on-One Genealogy Help Volunteer John Kelley would be happy to help you any Wednesday afternoon between 1 and 4pm, whether you are just beginning your research or have hit a stumbling block and would like some advice. John knows all the best sources and techniques to start you on your way. Please call the library at 802-985-5124 to schedule an appointment.

Musical Story Time with Inger Bring your little ones to the library on Thursdays at 10:30am for music, movement, and good books. Children are invited to join in with rhythm instruments and dance to Inger’s tunes on the guitar. Note: no Musical Story Time on May 18, but she will be here on May 11 and May 25.

Volunteers Needed! If you have a few spare hours one day a week, we’d appreciate your help in getting our books, CDs, and DVDs back on the shelves as soon as they are returned and/or helping us with other tasks. Ask for a volunteer application next time you are in the library.

Ideas for Programs? We try to schedule a wide variety of programs that will appeal to patrons, but we are always interested in hearing your ideas for one-time or ongoing programs that you would enjoy. Please let us know what you would like to see on our calendar. All suggestions are welcome.
