Shelburne native Adam Terko has earned himself some new hardware.

Terko, the executive director and the head coach of the Mansfield Nordic Club, has been named the 2017 New England Nordic Ski Association coach of the year.

A graduate of Champlain Valley Union High School, Terko was a member of the Redhawks Nordic ski team from 2004 to 2008. In 2005, he helped CVU capture the Vermont Nordic Division I State title.

Terko went on to St. Lawrence University where he skied for the Saints for four years. He served as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence before returning to Vermont in 2015 to take up the reigns at Mansfield.

Under Terko’s leadership, Mansfield skiers have recently won medals at the New England, National and World Championship levels in youth, junior and masters age groups.
