Shelburne’s Annual Tree Lighting & Carol Singing Friday on the Village Green. Caroling will start at 5:45 p.m. followed by the annual lighting of the town tree at 6 p.m. Santa will make his grand arrival and lead the crowd to Town Hall where kids can visit with Santa and enjoy hot beverages and refreshments. A craft for kids will be offered by the Pierson Library Staff in the children’s library. Watch for the SD Ireland truck of lights. A special thanks to TD Bank for providing free elf hats and shopping bags to the first 100 attendees on the Village Green. Don’t forget to stop by the Shelburne Country Store for their annual cookie-decorating, too.
Snowmobile Safety Course This six-hour course provides the opportunity to earn the certification necessary to legally operate on Vermont’s statewide snowmobile trails system. Participants must be present for all classes in order to be eligible for certification. Vermont state law requires that all Vermont snowmobile operators born after July 1, 1983, who are 12 years of age or older, must take and pass a state approved snowmobile safety course. Class dates are three consecutive days, Dec. 4-6 from 6 to 8 p.m. for ages 12 and up. The class will be held at the town offices activity room for a $15 fee. Pre-registration is required no later than noon Friday. Participants must attend all three classes.
Free senior walking program Stay active and healthy during the icy and cold winter months by walking in a safe and warm environment in the town center gym. Bring clean, dry soft-soled shoes to wear in the gym. No registration is required. Shelburne residents only. This program will run Monday through Friday from 9-11 a.m. starting this week.
