Santa appears at Shelburne’s annual tree lighting & carol singing Friday night was a fun community event, which ended with Santa’s arrival and a chance for kids to have a special visit with him in person. Thanks to everyone who attended and joined in the caroling before the lighting of the town tree. A special thanks to TD Bank for providing free elf hats and shopping bags for those that joined in the fun.

Young Rembrandts Art Class Winter Session 1 Tuesdays: Jan. 9 through Feb. 13 (snow day make up 2/20) Our budding artists will flex their creative muscle as they develop their drawing and artistic skills with creative and fun drawings. This class will be held at the Shelburne Community School on Tuesdays from 2:05 to 3:15 p.m. Class fee is $80 and open to kids in kindergarten to 5th grade.

Shotokan Karate For adults & kids ages 8 and up. Improve your fitness level, challenge yourself and have fun! Karate is a weaponless means of self-defense, consisting of dynamic offensive and defensive techniques, using all parts of the body to their maximum advantage. This program will help students develop physical skills such as eye hand coordination, mental focus, leadership and partnership skills while building self-confidence and character through basic Shotokan Karate techniques. (Fee does not include required uniform.) Classes will run on Thursdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m. for $40 / session with instructor Brandon Hier. Session dates are Jan. 4 through Feb. 22, 2018.

Free Senior Walking Program Stay active and healthy during the icy and cold winter months by walking in a safe and warm environment in the town gym. Please bring a pair of clean, dry, soft-soled shoes with you and change before entering the gym. No registration is required. Shelburne residents only. This program will run Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. starting November 27. Schedule is subject to change. Call 985-9551 for an updated schedule and information, or check the calendar on the gymnasium door.
