Handbell ensemble to ring in New Year with three Chittenden County concerts

Now in its 15th year, the Northern Bronze Handbell Ensemble plans three early-January concerts titled “Songs of Good Cheer” at churches in Chittenden County.

A professional community handbell group, the ensemble rehearses and stores its equipment at Trinity Episcopal Church in Shelburne.

For the performances, they are collaborating with the Bells of St. James from Essex Junction and the Austin Chimers of the First Congregational Church of Burlington. Performances are:

• Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church, 95 Allen Rd, South Burlington.
• Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 4 St. James Place, Essex Junction, with Bells of St. James.
• Jan. 7 at 3 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 38 South Winooski Ave., Burlington, with Austin Chimers.
Tickets at the doors:  $12 general; $8 for children under 12. More information: northernbronze.org.
