Hope for Shelburne in 2018 — Thomas Murphy

With the new year comes new hope.

Hope that our elected officials will remember it’s an honor and a huge responsibility to represent us.

Hope that respectful communication will be omnipresent.

Hope that anger and tactlessness, and decisive manipulation of our governance is replenished with a willingness to listen, truly listen even when opinions differ.

Hope that personal agendas and attacks take a back seat to what benefits the majority in this community.

Hope that more citizens get involved, vote, show up at meetings, courteously express one’s thoughts, and be part of the shaping of our Town.

Hope that our community can thrive in the new year, be fiscally responsible, show compassion and understanding, and become the outstanding Town Shelburne it is so close to becoming.

Here’s to hope in 2018.
