The Shelburne Tree Advisory Committee will host a refresher workshop in tree identification on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. at the town offices.
Meredith Whitney, Forest Pest Education Coordinator with the Vermont Urban and Community Forestry Program, will lead the workshop designed for anyone who wants to know more about how to identify trees in their backyard and out in the forest.
Participants will apply leaf arrangement and leaf structure definitions, use identification keys, and learn to differentiate between Vermont tree species.
This workshop is inspired by a new book on tree identification called “A Beginner’s Guide to Recognizing Trees of the Northeast” by Mark Mikolas. Free.
