Support for Heins in March election — Andrew Everett

I want to voice my support of Jaime Heins for the Selectboard. Jaime has a track record of smart, calm leadership of the Planning Commission in Shelburne. As a fellow commissioner, I have had a front-row seat to his efforts, but just as importantly to his practical and even-handed leadership style. He is often the smartest person at the table, but he makes sure everyone has their say and weighs all the ideas at the table. He has also gone above and beyond to reach out to the various constituencies impacted by the Planning Commission’s work to proactively seek their input. He has brought parties on opposite sides of issue together to hash out differences and reach a fair compromise.

In my opinion, this is exactly the type leadership Shelburne needs. He is levelheaded and calm even as passions rise, and he makes sure to keep discussions on track and moving towards resolution.

While I was sad to see Jaime leave the Planning Commission for the open Selectboard seat, my sorrow was outweighed by my happiness that he would have a larger role to play for Shelburne. Jaime brings leadership experience at top Vermont companies like Burton and Keurig. He also has a strong vested interest in the future of the town as the parent of two young children. And he is open and approachable, willing to listen to constituents.

The leadership this amazing town needs going forward is exactly the combination of brains, temperament, and passion that Jaime possesses. Please keep him on the Selectboard in the coming election.
