After careful consideration of two very capable candidates, I have decided to support Chris Boyd for the remainder of the two-year position on the Shelburne Selectboard. I’ve known Chris Boyd for only a few months but we’ve had some meaningful conversations about the many issues and challenges currently facing the town.
Chris perceived the difficulties on the Selectboard as a call to duty and soon became regularly involved in Selectboard meetings. At this point in time, when a change in the dynamics of the board is so needed, I believe Chris has the temperament and mindset to listen to various points of view and then work as a team player with all parties to solve any issue. Chris will bring a fresh start and represent a departure from any lingering controversies as a new member elected by the people.
Chris Boyd’s long-term institutional knowledge of Shelburne as a former member of the Selectboard and years of public safety experience including his past position as the fire chief will serve residents well. In addition, Chris is keenly aware of the town’s fiscal responsibilities in keeping Shelburne affordable for so many residents with budget challenges.
Most of all, I especially appreciate Chris’s lifelong dedication to work in public safety which demonstrates his commitment, recognition and understanding of the high priority public safety matters deserve. Chris Boyd has the right mix of experience and thoughtfulness to contribute significantly to the board and move the town in a positive direction.
