Colangelo leaving Shelburne for Hanover, Mass.

By MIKE DONOGHUE

Shelburne Town Manager Joe Colangelo has inked a contract with the town of Hanover, Mass. to serve as its new municipal manager.

Colangelo, who told the Shelburne News he signed the contract last night, was in Hanover over the weekend and into Monday.

He and the Shelburne Selectboard will begin their preliminary discussion tonight on his planned exit. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the town offices.

His public contract with Shelburne provides for 50 days notice, but that is always subject to negotiation.

The board also will likely discuss  finding an interim town manager while a full search is underway.

Colangelo had been given a conditional work offer, subject to completing a background check and successful contract talks.

Colangelo said he still loves his work in Shelburne, but the new job is a chance to move closer to where his wife grew up and still has family in that area.
