The Vermont Fish &Wildlife Department cautions drivers that moose are on the move and likely to be crossing roadways this time of year, especially after dark or early in the morning as they travel from wintering areas to spring feeding locations. While most Vermont moose are in the Northeast Kingdom, the area between Bolton and Montpelier along Interstate 89 sees moose activity. Motorists hit 67 moose on Vermont highways in 2017 and 19 people have died in motor vehicle collisions with moose on Vermont highways since 1985, officials said.
