Public invited to tour Kingdom Community Wind project

For the sixth summer, Green Mountain Power is offering free tours of the 21-turbine Kingdom Community Wind project in Lowell, Vt.

The popular tours are open to Vermonters and tourists alike, and in previous years have drawn more than 1,200 people to the site each month.

Richard Pion, chair of the Lowell Selectboard, said the tours are a great chance to see a wind project up close, adding: “Plus, they have attracted thousands of visitors to our region over the years, which benefits the local economy as they make stops at local restaurants and businesses.”

Tours last approximately 90 minutes and include stops at two turbines.

Remaining tour dates for this summer are:

Saturday, July 21 at 10 a.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. and Saturday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m.
Advance registration is required. Register online at greenmountainpower.com/kingdom-community-wind-tours or call Gert Tetreault at 744-6664. Groups are welcome and can be arranged by calling 802-655-8418.
