Burlington dodges questions on spills into Lake Champlain

To the Editor:

Hats off to seasoned journalist Michael Donoghue for his excellent reporting – and holding the city of Burlington officials to account for their obfuscation on the recent sewage spills from the treatment plant into the lake.

The real joke is their trying to hoodwink veteran reporter Donoghue by telling him that the continual sewage spills are “unacceptable.”

Really?

No, what’s unacceptable is their dodging serious questions about what really is going on in Vermont’s largest city.

If government officials want to try to snooker the public, failing to be transparent with a seasoned reporter such as Michael Donoghue is the biggest mistake they can make.
