Farm to School intense summer start

With just over a month left before school starts, nearly 100 educators, school nutrition staff, administrators, farmers and regional Farm to School organizations gathered at Shelburne Farms recently to learn about building connections among farms, classrooms, cafeterias, and communities.

This was the eighth annual Farm to School Institute, the cornerstone professional development program of Vermont FEED, a partnership between Shelburne Farms and Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont.

The action plans they created will be implemented throughout the upcoming academic year at 12 Northeast schools with the support of an experienced coach, integrating best farm-to-school practices.
