After five games, three wins, S.D. Ireland heads to state championship this weekend

The late-season push for the S.D. Ireland legion baseball team wrapped up on Sunday with back-to-back wins over Colchester.

With 3-1 and 17-3 victories over the Cannons, S.D. Ireland wraps up the regular season at 17-20. The team earned the No. 4 seed in the northern division and will open the state tournament on Friday at St. Peter’s Field in Rutland. Kyle Rivers earned the complete game win in the 3-1 victory, going seven innings and giving up one run on six hits. Ian Parent drove in two runs as S.D. Ireland wrapped up the regular season with a win.

Earlier in the day, Collin Vincent had two doubles and drove in five runs to lead the S.D. Ireland offense in a 17-3 victory over Colchester. Baker Angstman pitched five innings to earn the win, while Jacob Murphy (three RBIs), Tyler Skaflestad (two RBIs) and Liam Reiner (two RBIs) each drove in multiple runs.

On Saturday, S.D. Ireland was swept by Montpelier Post 3, losing 13-9 and 7-1.

On Friday, S.D. Ireland earned a 10-0 shutout win over Addison County Post 19. Ian Parent earned the win, pitching a complete game and allowing just four hits. Reiner and Vincent both drove in two runs in the win.
