Support for Sen. Debbie Ingram in Vermont’s Aug. 14 primary election

To the Editor:

I urge Shelburne residents to support State Sen. Debbie Ingram in the Aug. 14 Democratic primary election.

Debbie is a leader who is concerned about all citizens of our state, particularly those whose income level presents a constant struggle for decent and affordable housing, adequate wages, and comprehensive health coverage.

During the past two years, Debbie has already amassed a strong record spearheading a wide variety of legislation, including:

allowing the public defender’s office to provide advice to persons already under their care on matters of immigration in order to keep families together;

reauthorizing the Child Poverty Council to monitor progress in eradicating child poverty;

establishing gun safety laws, especially universal background checks and removal of guns from domestic abusers;

establishing a systemic racism mitigation board to collect data on racial injustice within the government in order to identify where improvement is needed and to promote best practices;

increasing the number of and training for sexual assault nurse examiners to provide better care for victims.

Along with her Senate colleagues, Debbie will continue to support cleanup of our waterways, paid family leave, raising the minimum wage and universal primary health care.

Debbie is a very hard-working member of the Senate. She is consistently responsive to her constituents, returning phone calls and answering emails in a timely fashion. She wants to listen to you and your concerns. She has been an excellent senator, and I hope you will support her on Aug. 14.

Remember that voting is available now in the town clerk’s office.
