Welch works for commonsense solutions to Vermont problems

To the Editor:

I am writing to urge you to vote for Congressman Peter Welch in the Democratic Primary on August 14. Peter Welch is a five-term Congressman who has represented Vermont well in the House of Representatives since 2007.

Peter’s record clearly reflects the views of a large majority of Vermont residents. He is seasoned and experienced. Very importantly, he has resisted Donald Trump›s disastrous attacks on our civil liberties and democratic institutions at every turn.

Peter has worked hard to bring commonsense solutions to problems facing Americans. He has fought to expand affordable health care, to pass a comprehensive climate change bill, to enact a $15 minimum wage, to rebuild our infrastructure, to restore net neutrality and to enact many, many more pieces of legislation that benefit Vermonters.

We need Peter Welch in Congress to continue to work for us. To put it very simply, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

While I mostly agree with you, I find it disconcerting that Representative Welch twice failed to support his colleagues’ impeachment resolutions.
