Store celebrates pets, supports local animal groups during August

The Tractor Supply Company store in Shelburne will host a variety of animal-focused efforts with its “Out Here with Animals” campaign this month.

The retailer will collect new pet supplies and food to donate to local pet rescue and shelter organizations. Customers may contribute new sealed food, toys, cleaning supplies and other essential pet accessories such as beds, scratching posts, leashes and bowls.

On Aug. 25, the store will host a pet adoption event. Local organizations interested in participating may sign up online at or by calling the store, 985-4092. Registration closes Aug. 22.

“‘Out Here with Animals’ allows the Shelburne community to come together to celebrate their pets while supporting the great work of their local animal organizations,” said Mary Lawley, company vice president of store administration. “Whether you have a dog, cat, horse, pig or goat, we hope families will bring their leashed, friendly pets to the store to show how special their animals are and help us find homes for the local adoptable animals that deserve a family, too.”

The company will also donate up to $25,000 in grants to 10 local animal nonprofits nominated by the public.

Based in Brentwood, Tenn. and operating more than 1,725 stores in 49 states and online, Tractor Supply claims to be the country’s largest “rural-lifestyle” retailer. The Shelburne store is at 3708 Shelburne Rd.
