Labor Day The library will be closed Monday, Sept. 3 for the Labor Day holiday. Stock up with the books, audiobooks, and DVDs you might want for the long weekend.

Minecraft tonight Kids in grades 5 and up convene at the library on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. for a fun evening of Minecraft with friends and snacks. Attendees must have a Minecraft account. Bring your own device or call 985-5124 to reserve a library computer. Please register in advance.

Monday Morning Story Time Patrice leads the Monday Morning Story Time at 10:30. Bring your little ones for wonderful tales read aloud.

Genealogy One-on-One Call the Library to schedule an individual appointment on Wednesday afternoons with Pierson Library volunteer John Kelley for help in tracing your family roots.

Musical Story Time with Inger Bring your little ones to the library on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for songs and stories that even our youngest patron can enjoy.

Volunteers needed The library is looking for folks willing to re-shelve materials and make sure things are neat and tidy. Pick up a volunteer application next time you visit the library.

September Book Clubs The Monday Afternoon Book Club meets at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17 to discuss “The Girl in Hyacinth Blue” by Susan Vreeland in the Town Offices, Meeting Room 2.  Please note that the Wednesday Morning Book Club has now become the Monday Afternoon Book Club. The Tuesday Night Book Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 to discuss “Death Comes to Pemberley” by P.D. James, also in the Town Offices, Meeting Room 2. Ask for copies of the books at the library front desk.

Book on Tap Book Group for Men meets at La Villa on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. for a discussion of “Da Vinci” by Walter Isaacson.

Congratulations, Summer Reading Challenge winners Thank you to The Friends of the Pierson Library for another great year of summer programming and a special congratulations to all of the ambitious readers who did the Summer Reading Challenge, especially to winners Josie Newberry and Olivia Searson and runner-up Charlotte Hughes. They, together with all of the readers in the challenge, read more than 120,000 pages.
