Orton Foundation names senior associate for programs


The Shelburne-based Orton Family Foundation has hired Joan Wagner as senior associate for programs.

Wagner previously directed the Center for Community Engaged Learning at St. Michael’s College. She will play a key role supporting Orton’s mission to bring its resident-driven community development model, Community Heart & Soul, to towns across the country. Wagner will lead the creation of a curriculum community development coaches and will also be involved in mentoring, teaching and training coaches.

“Joan’s depth of experience in community engagement, education and service to others aligns perfectly with the work we are doing at Orton Family Foundation to empower residents to shape the future of their communities,” said Orton Executive Director David Leckey

Wagner holds a doctorate in education with a focus on organizational leadership and policy from the University of Vermont, along with and a master’s degree in education and bachelor’s degrees in business administration and English from St. Michael’s College.
