Silcox named best biology teacher in Colorado


Justin Silcox, formerly of Shelburne, has been named the Outstanding Biology Teacher for the state of Colorado by the National Association of Biology Teachers.

A biology teacher at Glenwood Springs High School since 2012, Silcox is a graduate of Champlain Valley Union High School and the University of Vermont. He earned his master’s in education from Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont.

Silcox also coaches Nordic skiing at the Aspen Valley Ski Club for U16-20 athletes.

He will receive the teaching award at a conference this month in San Diego.

Silcox is the son of Betsy and Norman Silcox of Shelburne.
