Obituary – Jeanne Theresa Ladue

Jeanne Theresa Ladue, 90, died at Wake Robin retirement community surrounded by her family on Thursday evening Nov. 8, 2018.

Jeanne Ladue was born on Sept. 5, 1928 in Maracaibo, Venezuela, the daughter of Richard Gordon Bennett and Carmen Theresa Dalla Costa Bennett. Jeanne lived in Venezuela, England and Trinidad BWI, and graduated from Loretto Academy in Niagra Falls, Canada. She lived in New York City at Tatum House and worked for Dorothy Hood as a model for Lord & Taylor newspaper ads.

Jeanne was married at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 1950 to James Warren Ladue. They lived together in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and eventually made their home in Darien, Conn. and raised five children. Jeanne and Warren spent their later years in Woodstock, Vt., and eventually Wake Robin in Shelburne, Vt.

Jeanne enjoyed reading, flower arranging, summer days at the beach, and frequent visits to New York City. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and the many family dogs and grand dogs. She will be fondly remembered for her very kind and gentle demeanor, and her elegant and gracious manner, as well as her great courage and patience. Her home was her sanctuary and she was always most happy surrounded by those she loved, family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jeanne Ladue is survived by her children, James Warren Ladue Jr., and wife Peggy (Templeton, Calif.), Suzanne McMaster and husband Andy (Darien, Conn.), Jan Sudbay and husband Larry (Charlotte, Vt.) and Elizabeth Barrett and husband Jerry (Woodstock, Vt); and Jeanne’s 10 loving grandchildren, Sarah, Chris, Michelle, Andrew, Matthew, Jerry, Bill, Tim, Charlie and Will.

Jeanne was predeceased by her husband J. Warren Ladue (2010) and her son Richard William Ladue (1980).

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Darien, Conn. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
