Shelburne Candidates Forum, Feb. 19

All candidates on the March 5 Shelburne ballot have been invited to participate in the candidates forum on Feb. 19 from 7-8:30 p.m., in meeting rooms 1 and 2 in the Town Offices.

The purpose is for candidates to introduce themselves and hear questions and concerns from Shelburne residents. Tom Little will serve as moderator. David Webster is timekeeper.

Although all seats are uncontested, it is important for residents to get to know candidates and for candidates to hear directly from residents about their concerns and issues.

Format will generally follow format of previous forums. Prior to the start of the question and answer part of the forum, each of the sponsors will welcome the audience. Sponsors are Shelburne Democrats Committee, Cate Cross, Shelburne Republicans Committee, Mike Donahue and Shelburne News.

Candidates will introduce themselves and make a brief statement. Questions are generated by audience members and written on cards, specifying who should answer the question, and the cards are handed to the moderator, who then organizes the questions by topic. Candidates have two minutes to respond. This format has been successful in allowing a large number of questions from a number of the audience.

There will be time at the end of the forum for audience and candidates to mingle.

V-Cam will record and broadcast the forum.

Contact Nancy Baker with questions or comments (nebaker@uvm.edu).
