Obituary – Ellin London

Ellin London

Ellin London passed away peacefully on March 10 at Wake Robin. Born on June 4, 1923, she was a self-described “professional volunteer” and dedicated environmentalist.

After graduating from Wellesley College in 1945, Ellin met and married the love of her life, the late Robert D. London, M.D. They raised three sons in Scarsdale, N.Y. and at their estate, Blue Herons, in Pound Ridge, N.Y.

Ellin moved to Vermont 18 years ago, bringing her passion for the environment, land conservation, population control, and education with her to Vermont. She was long-time friend and volunteer at Shelburne Farms and active supporting connections between UVM and the High School for Environmental Studies in New York City.

Ellin is survived by her sons, Roger, Douglas, and Christopher London; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Those who wish may donate in Ellin’s name to Planned Parenthood or Shelburne Farms.
